Sammy laughed as the penny finally dropped. 'So you want me to photograph naked men for you?'

Ayesha, who chaired the Friends of the London Victoria Hospital, squirmed and stared into her latte. 'Put like that, it sounds terrible!'

'I know what you meant. Do it artistically,' Sammy said, still smiling. 'A calendar of hot men to raise funds for the cancer ward. It's a great idea. So do you have a bunch of sexy doctors lined up to pose for me?'

'A couple,' Mari, the vice-chair, said. 'But we were thinking maybe we can include other people who've been involved with the ward.'

'Cured patients, so you can say that this is what a cancer survivor looks like? That could work well.' And, for a cause like that, Sammy would seriously think about going public and baring her own leg, if they couldn't get enough models.

'We were thinking relatives of patients,' Ayesha said. 'Ones with high profiles locally. We've got an actor, a musician, a chef, a gardener…'

'So I could maybe shoot them in their own locations, doing their job. That'd work really well,' Sammy said. 'And they're all happy about posing naked—provided I preserve their modesty?'

'Ye—es,' Ayesha said.

The hesitation told her everything. 'You didn't actually tell them it meant posing naked, did you?' Sammy asked.

'We're going to,' Mari said. 'We can talk them into it.'

'As I'll need signed model release forms before I can let you use the photographs, I'm afraid you'll have to do that.' Sammy looked at her diary. 'If you're using the hospital as a location, I could shoot the whole lot in a day, but if I need to go to different places then I'll have to work out a schedule based on the locations and the availability of the models.' She scribbled some notes down on a pad. 'These are the best times for me to do it, but I can also work round a couple of other things if you need me to. Talk to your models and let me know where and when you want me to do the shoots.'

'Sammy, you're a star. Thank you so much,' Ayesha said.

Sammy shrugged off the praise. 'It's the least I can do. If it wasn't for the treatment I had here when I was a teen—' and again two years ago '—then I wouldn't be here. And this means I can give something back.' She smiled. 'This is going to be fun. And we're going to raise a ton of money for the ward.'

Nick folded his arms and looked at his sister.

'All right, Mandy. Out with it.'

'Out with what?' she deadpanned.

'Amanda Kennedy, I've known you for thirty-five years.'

'At least one year of which you wouldn't remember, because you were a baby at the time,' she retorted.

'Agreed,' he said, 'but I can always read your expression. So don't ever take up playing poker, will you?'

She sighed. 'I guess.'

Nick had known that tonight wasn't just about his sister giving him an update on his nephew's cancer treatment. Despite going through a messy divorce, Mandy still believed in love and happy endings. And all too often she tried to fix him up with someone she thought would be his perfect date. Nick had stopped believing in love years ago, and he'd learned the hard way that you couldn't be successful both in love and in your career. So after the break-up of his marriage he'd gone for the safe option and concentrated on his career.

No doubt this was another of Mandy's friends who really needed a plus-one for a dinner party and he'd fit the bill perfectly. OK. He'd help out, but he'd make it clear that he wasn't looking for a relationship. Nowadays he didn't do anything deeper than casual dating.

Then his sister said something he really hadn't expected. 'The Friends of the Hospital are doing a calendar to raise funds for the ward.'

He didn't need to ask which ward. The cancer ward. The one that had treated his nephew Xander for osteosarcoma. Well, he could do something to help there, too. 'If they're looking for a sponsor to cover production costs, count me in.'

Mandy reached across the table and squeezed his hand. 'Aww, Nick. I knew you'd offer to help before I could ask you. But they already have a sponsor for printing costs.'

'OK. What else do they need to cover? Distribution? Warehouse? Paying the photographer?'

'Um—not that, either. The photographer's doing it for nothing.' 'Then what?'

She took a deep breath. 'They want you to be one of the models.'

'Me?' He looked at her, totally shocked. He knew his sister had been under a lot of stress recently, but had she gone temporarily insane? 'Why?'

Mandy raised her eyebrows. 'Need I remind you that you actually got approached by a model agency when you were seventeen?'

'And I didn't take up their offer.' He might have considered it, to fund his way through university; but a couple of weeks later their parents had split up and life had disintegrated into chaos. Nick had forgotten all about the modelling offer and retreated into his studies. Concentrating on his books was what had got him through all the upheaval of his parents' divorce. Just as concentrating on his job had got him through the misery of his own divorce.

'Seriously, Nick—will you do it? They're looking for people who are connected with the ward.'

As Xander's uncle, he definitely had that connection.

'And they want people with interesting jobs.'

'A barrister isn't that exciting,' he said.

'Yes, it is. You look like a film star in your wig and gown.'

He rolled his eyes. 'Mandy, I'm just an ordinary guy.'

'Like hell you are. Apart from the fact that you're my little brother, which would make you special in any case, can I remind you that you're one of the youngest ever barristers appointed to being a QC?'

He grimaced. 'Why would anyone be interested in that?' About the only people who would even know what a QC was were people who had needed to brief one. Or maybe fans of certain types of TV crime drama.

'And you'd be helping raise money for the ward. Money they really need for new equipment.'

That was an unbeatable argument, and they both knew it. How could he possibly say no? This was to help other kids who were in Xander's position. And a little voice in his head added selfishly that maybe if he did it, then that would persuade Fate to give Xander a break and keep him in remission. And for that Nick would do almost anything.

'Will you do it?' she asked.

He closed his eyes briefly. 'All right.'

She smiled. 'Good. Thank you. I'll give your phone number and email to them, then— I'll do that now, if you don't mind, because they're waiting on my answer.'

'OK.' But Mandy was still hiding something, he was sure. 'And the rest of it?' he asked.

She blinked. 'What do you mean?' 'You're holding something back.' She shrugged and tapped a message into her phone.

'Just save us both the time and tell me the rest of it, Mandy,' he said, leaning back and eyeing her over his glass of water.

'OK.' She sat back in her own chair and looked at him straight. 'Since you ask, you're going to be naked.'

'What?' He'd just taken a sip of water and he nearly choked on it. Naked? He must've misheard. No way would his sister have done this to him.

'You won't be showing anything,' she said.

'Define naked,' he said grimly.

'In court. Wearing your wig and robe.'

He shook his head. 'I'm afraid I can't do that, Mandy. The Head of Chambers would never agree to it.'

'Um, he already has.'

He blinked hard. Was he hearing things? Leo had already said yes? But—how? 'You what?'

'I talked to your clerk this morning,' she said. 'And he thinks it's a great idea.'

Now Nick was beginning to understand all the knowing smiles that had greeted him all afternoon. The news must've gone round chambers in ten seconds flat—gossip that juicy would never be ignored. And they'd all known that he didn't have a clue what was going on, making it even more fun for them.

'So what exactly did Gary say?' he asked, keeping his voice low and even and meanwhile planning how he was going to make his clerk grovel hugely in the morning.

'He put me through to your Head of Chambers. Then I told Leo all about it and he said he thought it was really a good idea, too. And he's getting clearance for us so you can do the shoot in the local court. He says he'll cover any photographic permission costs at the court himself.'

'Oh, good God.' With his boss on side, there was no way Nick could get out of it. He covered his face with his hands. 'Please tell me this is some weird, surreal dream. Please tell me it's a nightmare and I'm going to wake up. Preferably right now.'

'Nick, I've already told them you said yes,' Mandy said plaintively.

'That was before I knew I was going to be naked. This is a seriously bad idea, Mandy,' he said softly. 'I'm a senior barrister. I have to respect the dignity of the court. Which doesn't mean posing naked—or near-naked—for a calendar shoot, no matter how noble the cause is.'

'But Leo said it would be OK. And… Nick, we need you,' Mandy pleaded. 'And it's not as if you're the only one with a responsible job. One of the surgeons at the hospital is doing it.'

'Which is publicity for his own place of work.'

'And I think there's an actor and a musician on their list. And a chef.'

'All of whom would get a career boost from the publicity,' he pointed out.

'Please, Nick. For me. And for Xander.'

'It doesn't look as if I've got much choice,' he said grimly. 'But promise me you'll never, ever pitch a stunt like this again.'

'I promise. I'm sorry, Nick.' She bit her lip. 'But the ward needs the money.'

Lack of money meant lack of equipment. Which in turn meant that some kids wouldn't get the treatment they so badly needed. And that meant that those kids might even die.

Which was Nick's worst nightmare regarding his nephew.

And he was in a position to change that. To give more kids a chance of life—the same amazing chance that Xander had been given. All he had to do was pose for one little picture that would help to publicise the cause and encourage people to donate.

One little naked picture.

It really went against the grain. But far worse was the thought of his nephew dying and the way it would shatter all their lives and devastate his elder sister.

'All right,' he said, blowing out a breath. 'But I need to double-check this with Leo myself, first, and make sure that he's absolutely clear on all the details. And if he changes his mind and says that I can't do it, then I'll sell calendars by hand for you—and I'm very persuasive, so I'll sell tons of them to everyone in the whole of Inner Temple and Middle Temple. Plus I'll also give a personal donation to match those sales. Double.' Time and money. They'd be a good alternative to posing naked for a calendar, wouldn't they?

And hopefully he'd be able to persuade his Head of Chambers that having one of his barristers naked and in the focus of the press might not be such a good idea…

* * *

And of course Leo still said yes. Even when Nick pointed out exactly what was involved.

So, two weeks later, Nick found himself heading to the local Crown court. Leo had arranged for Court Number Two to be used outside the normal court working hours, though there was still a chance that Nick might bump into someone he knew who'd want to know what he was doing hanging round the court building when he wasn't in a trial—especially when he looked as scruffy as he did right now.

S. J. Thompson, the photographer, had sent him a couple of very business-like texts to arrange the photo shoot and explain that Nick needed to dress casually and remove anything that might cause a mark on his skin—socks, collars, waistbands and the like—at least two hours before the shoot.

For putting him through something as embarrassing as this—not to mention the teasing he knew he'd get from his colleagues when the calendar actually came out—Fate had better keep Xander safe, Nick thought grimly.

When he got to the court, carrying his court attire in its usual boxes, there was nobody waiting outside. The only person he could see in the lobby was a woman who looked to be in her late twenties or so, wearing black trousers, a black silky short-sleeved top and black shoes. Her blonde hair was cropped so short as to be almost a military cut. She didn't look remotely like the man Nick was here to meet.

She looked up from her book, then closed it, stood up and walked towards him. 'Nick Kennedy, I presume?'

He blinked. Was she the photographer's assistant or something? 'Yes.'

'Thank you for being on time. I'm S. J. Thompson—though you can call me Sammy, if you like.' She held out her hand for him to shake.

'You're S. J. Thompson?' Even as the words came out, he realised how dim they sounded. And how stupid of him to assume that the use of initials meant that the photographer was male.

She gave him a slight smile. 'I'm afraid so.'

Clearly he wasn't the first to have made that mistake. 'I—er—nice to meet you,' he said, feeling totally wrong-footed.

And, when he shook her hand, awareness zinged through every pore. Sammy Thompson was the most striking woman he'd met in a long time. And that severe haircut only served to highlight how pretty and feminine her face was. There was nothing masculine at all about her. Her mouth was a perfect rosebud, and he found himself wanting to trace her lower lip with his fingertip. Worse still, he could picture himself doing that before leaning in and kissing her. Lightly at first, a touch as light as a butterfly's wing, and then deepening the kiss as she responded.

He shook himself mentally. Oh, for pity's sake. This was business. OK, maybe not the normal kind of business he'd conduct here in the court, but it was still business. And he wasn't exactly known for having ridiculous flights of fancy.

But he did feel uncomfortable right now.

It was nothing to do with sexism—as far as he was concerned, it was how you did your job that mattered, not what your gender or your sexual orientation or your religion was—but Sammy's gender made this situation a little more difficult. Because it meant that now he was going to be stripping off in front of a woman he'd never met before.

Either his doubts showed on his face or she was used to this reaction from the people she photographed, because she said softly, 'It's not going to be as bad as you think. And, if it helps, remember that I'll be seeing you simply as a life model rather than as an actual person. I don't tend to hit on my models.'

'I—yes. Of course. Sorry.' How long had it been since he'd felt in a whirl, like this? He was never this pathetic and woolly. And he really hoped he didn't look as if he was staring at her. He forced himself to look away. 'I believe we have Court Number Two booked.'

'My equipment's already in there, though I haven't set it up fully yet,' she said. 'Once we've decided precisely where you're going to stand, it won't take me long. Oh, and we really ought to cover the legal details now.'

Legal details? That got his attention.

Sammy has a date rule as she is keeping a secret that she feels is a good enough reason to not get serious
By dropsydot
Sammy Thompson is a photographer and is doing a calendar for a charity. Nick Kennedy who is an attorney and will do anything for his family, volunteers to do a photo shoot for a calendar for charity. When Sammy and Nick meet there is an instant attraction that neither want to accept. Sammy has a date rule as she is keeping a secret that she feels is a good enough reason to not get serious. What neither figure on is the fact that fate has other plans at times. You will laugh and feel sad but also smile. I do not want to give away any more of the story I hope everyone reads it. This is such a lovely story of how love can conquer everything and Nick is someone every one of us romantics would love to keep. What he does to prove his love gives you a big ahhhhh. Curl up with this book and follow these two as they discover each other and the depth of true love. Wonderful book.

I loved that the characters occupation was different from most stories ...
By Yary
Very touching story. I loved that the characters occupation was different from most stories I have read. Sammy and Nick were meant for each other the moment they met. Love a man who would do anything for there family even when it's pushing there comfort zone. Both families had something in common without Nick knowing. Nick is a character that is loving, caring, smart and spontaneous. I was so happy on how he set up a dinner that Sammy would never forget. Sammy was independent, strong and pushed her limits. Two characters who both got hurt by loved ones get a second chance at love. Great book to help families with ways of helping there love one with cancer and the possibility that everyone can help by donating there hair for a great cause. Related with this story because my grandma had cancer and saw her deteriorating right before my eyes. Wish I was able to do more.

Falling hard
By Ramona Kekstadt
Loved this book. My first book by Kate Hardy.

When Sammy is asked to take pictures for a calendar which will help benefit children she's on board.
Little does she know when the man she will be taking pictures of will be much more then a man in the calendar. He's Nick Kennedy aka Mr. December.

Nick Kennedy can't believe his sister asked to pose in some calendar, but it's for a good cause. So he does it. When he meets the photographer he's pretty stunned, and falls fast.

Nick and Sammy are workaholics. Something they have in common. So will love blossom between these two? She's hiding something and he knows it.. Not knowing what that could be he doesn't pressure her.

Sammy wants to tell him, but what if he leaves her? Can she trust him?

Buy the book and find out these questions. Such a great book.

A delightful book set during a Hatteras Island tempest.
By A Customer
I enjoyed A KNIGHT IN RUSTY ARMOR, and found that I couldn't put it down. Travis and Ruanna are likeable, understandable characters thrown together in a winter storm. There is a lot of humor and warmth in this story, and I couldn't predict the surprise twist at the end. I would recommend this romance to men and women alike.

love the Outer Banks
By Amazon Customer
I really enjoyed this book. It is based on the Outer Banks of NC, a place I vacation at almost every year. If I had never been there I would have given book 4 stars but (I think) I had to give it 5 because of the authenticity of the description of the area where it took place. The characters were not young and beautiful with perfect bodies and wonderful occupations, they were flawed and REAL. It made me look for some more books by Dixie Browning

The characters were not very deep. Her name was a bit tiresome. I liked the dog.

Jo got out of the truck and stretched. Man, it'd been a long drive from Kentucky to Denver.

But she'd made it to Beaumont Farms.

Getting this job was a major accomplishment—a vote of confidence that came with the weight of the Beaumont family name behind it.

This wouldn't be just a huge paycheck—the kind that could cover a down payment on a ranch of her own. This was proof that she was a respected horse trainer and her nontraditional methods worked.

A bowlegged man came out of the barn, slapping a pair of gloves against his leg as he walked. Maybe fifty, he had the lined face of a man who'd spent most of his years outside.

He was not Phillip Beaumont, the handsome face of the Beaumont Brewery and the man who owned this farm. Even though she shouldn't be, Jo was disappointed.

It was for the best. A man as sinfully good-looking as Phillip would be…tempting. And she absolutely could not afford to be tempted. Professional horse trainers did not fawn over the people paying their bills—especially when those people were known for their partying ways. Jo did not party, not anymore. She was here to do a job and that was that.

"Mr. Telwep?"

"Sure am," the man said, nodding politely. "You the horse whisperer?"

"Trainer," Jo snapped, unable to help herself. She detested being labeled a "whisperer." Damn that book that had made that a thing. "I don't whisper. I train!''

Richard's bushy eyebrows shot up at her tone. She winced. So much for that first impression. But she was so used to having to defend her reputation that the reaction was automatic. She put on a friendly smile and tried again. "I'm Jo Spears."

Thankfully, the older man didn't seem too fazed by her lack of social graces. "Miz Spears, call me Richard," he said, coming over to give her a firm handshake.

"Jo," she replied. She liked men like Richard. They'd spent their lives caring for animals. As long as he and his hired hands treated her like a professional, then this would work. "What do you have for me?"

"It's a—well, better to show you."

"Not a Percheron?" The Beaumont Brewery was world-famous for the teams of Percherons that had pulled their wagons in all their commercials for—well, for forever. A stuffed Beaumont Percheron had held a place of honor in the middle of her bed when she'd been growing up.

"Not this time. Even rarer."

Rarer? Not that Percheron horses were rare, but they weren't terribly common in the United States. The massive draft horses had fallen out of fashion now that people weren't using them to pull plows anymore.

"One moment." She couldn't leave Betty in the truck. Not if she didn't want her front seat destroyed, anyway.

Jo opened the door and unhooked Betty's traveling harness. The donkey's ears quivered in anticipation. "Ready to get out?"

Jo scooped Betty up and set her on the ground. Betty let off a serious round of kicks as Richard said, "I heard you traveled with a—well, what the heck is that?" with a note of amusement in his voice.

"That," Jo replied, "is Itty Bitty Betty. She's a mini donkey." This was a conversation she'd had many a time. "She's a companion animal."

By this time, Betty had settled down and had begun investigating the grass around her. Barely three feet tall, she was indeed mini. At her size and weight, she was closer to a medium sized dog than a donkey—and acted like it, too. Jo had trained Betty, of course, but the little donkey had been Jo's companion ever since Granny bought Betty for Jo almost ten years ago. Betty had helped Jo crawl out of the darkness. For that, Jo would be forever grateful.

Richard scratched his head in befuddlement at the sight of the pint-size animal. "Danged if I've ever seen a donkey that small. I don't think you'll be wanting to put her in with Sun just yet." He turned and began walking.

Jo perked up. "Sun?" She fell in step with Richard and whistled over her shoulder. Betty came trotting.

"Danged if I've ever," Richard repeated.

"Sun?" she said.

"Kandar's Golden Sun." Richard blew out hard, the frustration obvious. "You ever heard of an Akhal-Teke?" The name rang a bell. "Isn't that the breed that sired the Arabian?"

"Yup. From Turkmenistan. Only about five thousand in the world." He led the way around the barn to a paddock off to one side, partially shaded by trees.

In the middle of the paddock was a horse that probably was golden, as the name implied. But sweat matted his coat and foam dripped from his mouth and neck, giving him a dull, dirty look. The horse was running and bucking in wild circles and had worked himself up to a lather.

"Yup," Richard said, the disappointment obvious in his voice. "That's Kandar's Golden Sun, all right."

Jo watched the horse run. "Why's he so worked up?"

"We moved him from his stall to the paddock. Three hours ago." Jo looked at the older man, but he shrugged. "Took three men. We try to be gentle, but the damn thing takes one look at us and goes ballistic."

Three hours this horse had been bucking and running? Jesus, it was a miracle he hadn't collapsed in a heap. Jo had dealt with her share of terrified horses but sooner or later, they all wore themselves out.

"What happened?"

"That's the thing. No one knows. Mr. Beaumont flew to Turkmenistan himself to look at Sun. He understands horses," Richard added in explanation.

Heat flooded her cheeks. "I'm aware of his reputation."

How could anyone not be aware of Phillip Beaumont's reputation? He'd made the People Magazine "Most Beautiful" list more than a few years in a row. He had the sort of blond hair that always looked as if he'd walked off a beach, a strong chin and the kind of jaw that could cut stone. He did the Beaumont Brewery commercials but also made headlines on gossip websites and tabloid magazines for some of the stunts he pulled at clubs in Vegas and L.A. Like the time he'd driven a Ferrari into a pool. At the top of a hotel.

No doubt about it, Phillip was a hard-partying playboy. Except…except when he wasn't. In preparing for this job, she'd found an interview he'd done with Western Horseman magazine. In that interview—and the accompanying photos—he hadn't been a jaded playboy but an honest-to-God cowboy. He'd talked about horses and herd management and certainly looked like the real McCoy in his boots, jeans, flannel shirt and cowboy hat. He'd said he was building Beaumont Farms as a preeminent stable in the West. Considering the Beaumont family name and its billions in the bank—it wasn't some lofty goal. It was within his reach.

Which one was he? The playboy too sinfully handsome to resist or the hard-working cowboy who wasn't afraid to get dirt on his boots?

No matter which one he was, she was not interested. She couldn't afford to be interested in a playboy, especially one who was going to sign her checks. Yes, she'd been training horses for years now, but most wealthy owners of the valuable horses didn't want to take a chance on her nontra-ditional methods. She'd taken every odd job in every out-of-the-way ranch and farm in the lower forty-eight states to build her clientele. The call from Beaumont Farms was her first major contract with people who bought horses not for thousands of dollars, but for millions. If she could save this horse, her reputation would be set.

Besides, the odds of even meeting Phillip Beaumont were slim. Richard was the man she'd be working with. She pulled her thoughts away from the unattainable and focused on why she was here—the horse.

Richard snorted. "We don't deal too much with the partying out here. We just work horses." He waved a hand at Sun, who obliged by rearing on to his back legs and whinnying in panic. "Best we can figure is that maybe something happened on the plane ride? But there were no marks, no wounds. No crashes—not even a rough landing, according to the pilots."

"Just a horse that went off the rails," she said, watching as Sun pawed at the dirt as if he were killing a snake.

"Yup." Richard hung his head. "The horse ain't right but Mr. Beaumont's convinced he can be fixed—a horse to build a stable on, he keeps saying. Spent some ungodly sum of money on him—he'd hate to lose his investment. Personally, I can't stand to see an animal suffer like that. But Mr. Beaumont won't let me put Sun out of his misery. I hired three other trainers before you and none of them lasted a week. You're the horse's last chance. You can't fix him, he'll have to be put down."

This had to be why Richard hadn't gone into specifics over email. He was afraid he'd scare Jo off. "Who'd you hire?"

The older man dug the tip of his boot into the grass. "Lansing, Hoffmire and Callet."

Jo snorted. Lansing was a fraud. Hoffmire was a former farm manager, respected in horse circles. Callet was old-school—and an asshole. He'd tracked her down once to tell her to stay the hell away from his clientele.

She would take particular joy in saving a horse he couldn't.

Moving slowly, she walked to the paddock gate, Betty trotting to keep up. She unhooked the latch on the gate and let it swing open about a foot and a half.

Sun stopped and watched her. Then he really began to pitch a fit. His legs flailed as he bucked and reared and slammed his hooves into the ground so hard she felt the shock waves through the dirt. Hours of this, Jo thought. And no one knows why.

She patted her leg, which was the signal for Betty to stay close. Then Jo stepped into the paddock.

"Miss—" Richard called out, terror in his voice when he realized what she was doing. "Logan, get the tranq gun!"

"Quiet, please." It came out gentle because she was doing her best to project calm.

She heard footsteps—probably Logan and the other hands, ready to ride to her rescue. She held up a hand, motioning them to stop, and then closed the gate behind her and Betty.

The horse went absolutely wild. It hurt to see an animal so lost in its own hell that there didn't seem to be any way out.

She knew the feeling. It was a hard thing to see, harder to remember the years she'd lost to her own hell.

She'd found her way out. She'd hit bottom so hard it'd almost killed her but through the grace of God, Granny and Itty Bitty Betty, she'd fought her way back out.

She'd made it her life's work to help animals do the same. Even lost causes like Sun could be saved—not fixed, because there was no erasing the damage that had already been done. Scars were forever. But moving forward meant accepting the scars. It was that simple. She'd accepted hers.

Jo could stand here for hours listening to the world move, if that was what it took.

It didn't. After what was probably close to forty-five minutes, Sun stopped his frantic pacing. First, he stopped kicking, then he slowed from a run to a trot, then to a walk. Finally, he stood in the middle of the paddock, sides heaving and head down. For the first time, the horse was still.

She could almost hear him say, I give up.

It was a low place to be, when living hurt that much.

She understood. She couldn't fix this horse. No one could. But she could save him.

She patted her leg again and turned to walk out of the paddock. A group of seven men stood watching the show Sun had put on for her. Richard had a tranq gun in the hand he was resting on a bar of the paddock.

They were silent. No one shouted about her safety as she turned her back on Sun, no one talked about how the horse must be possessed. They watched her walk to the gate, open it, walk out, and shut it as if they were witnessing a miracle.

"I'll take the job."

Relief so intense it almost knocked her back a step broke over the ranch manager's face. The hired hands all grinned, obviously thankful that Sun was someone else's problem now.

"Provided," she went on, "my conditions are met."

Richard tried to look stern, but he didn't quite make it. "Yeah?"

"I need an on-site hookup for my trailer. That way, if Sun has a problem in the middle of the night, I'm here to deal with it."

"We've got the electric. I'll have Jerry rig up something for the sewer."

"Second, no one else deals with Sun. I feed him, I groom him, I move him. The rest of you stay clear."

"Done," Richard agreed without hesitation. The hands all nodded.

So far, so good. "We do this my way or we don't do it at all. No second-guessing from you, the hired hands or the owners. I won't rush the horse and I expect the same treatment. And I expect to be left alone. I don't date or hook up. Clear?"

She hated having to throw that out there because she knew it made her sound as if she thought men would be fighting over her. But she'd done enough harm by hooking up before. Even if she was sober this time, she couldn't risk another life.

Plus, she was a single woman, traveling alone in a trailer with a bed. Some men thought that was enough. Things worked better if everything was cut-and-dried up front.

Richard looked around at his crew. Some were blushing, a few looked bummed—but most of them were just happy that they wouldn't have to deal with Sun anymore.

Then Richard looked across the fields. A long, black limousine was heading toward them.

"Damn," one of the hands said, "the boss."

Everyone but Jo and Richard made themselves scarce. Sun found his second wind and began a full-fledged fit.

"This isn't going to be a problem, is it?" Jo asked Richard, who was busy dusting off his jeans and straightening his shirt.

"Shouldn't be." He did not sound convincing. "Mr. Beaumont wants the best for Sun."

The but on the end of that statement was as loud as if Richard had actually said the word. But Phillip Beaumont was a known womanizer who made headlines around the world for his conquests.

Richard turned his attention back to her. "You're hired. I'll do my level-best to make sure that Mr. Beaumont stays clear of you."

In other words, Richard had absolutely no control of the situation. A fact that became more apparent as the limo got closer. The older man stood at attention as the vehicle rolled to a stop in front of the barn.

Phillip Beaumont didn't scare her. Or intimidate her. She'd dealt with handsome, entitled men before and none of them had ever tempted her to fall back into her old ways. None of them made her forget the scars. This wouldn't be any different. She was just here for the job.

The limo door opened. A bare, female leg emerged from the limo at the same time as giggling filled the air. Behind her, Jo heard Sun kick it up a notch.

first of all I have to tell you that I liked the authors writing style
By Romantic Fool
So, first of all I have to tell you that I liked the authors writing style. This book had so much promise. The h has had a hard past. She has overcome alcoholism and mistakes, and I really loved her grit.

That is where my appreciation dies. The H is a poor-little-rich-boy. He has too much money, and too much time on his hands and he F**Ks anything with breasts from the first chapter. He blacks out repeatedly and remembers little of his sexual encounters.

Then the H and h start forming a tentative, and sober relationship. I got into this book. I started liking the Male Whore H the author created.

I say this because I DO understand Alcoholics come in every shape, every ethnicity, gender AND age group, BUT.................

*****Spoiler Alert********

The H finally falls off the wagon . I was kind of expecting that. But he falls so deep into A**Hole land that no one can save him. Pictures of him getting drunk with women, as the h waits for him to call her.
And of course the final insult where he wakes up in his LIMO with panties lying there. I thought I would be SICK!!!

So, he F**Ked some woman on that night, I ask myself HOW, how can the h forgive him. And she does with a few smugly spoken words from him. Where was his regret, his asking or forgiveness. I thought that was one of the first rules of recovery. But he does not ask, and she orgives. She was touted as being WAY smarter, prouder, braver.

*******End of Spoliler******

In the end this book was disappointing. Not because people don't make mistakes, they do. Drunk or sober, but this story, this H were not my idea of romance. FAIL!!! A manual on Alcoholism, SCORE!!

Beware of Man-Whore Alcoholic Who Sleeps With Anyone and Doesn't Remember
By The eBook Investigator
**********This May Contain SPOILERS*********

Didn't like this book at all! I despise men who are man-whores and especially those who cheat with however many women he was actually with the night he drank himself into oblivion and blacked out. Believe me the evidence in the limo clearly showed there were quite a few and he remembered none of it.

The H was an alcoholic man-whore to beat any I have ever read about. He wasn't satisfied with one woman. He always had multiple partners at the same time. I thought the author went too far when describing the scene the H woke up to after blacking out in the Limo. There were panties, shoes and other clothing and beer bottles everywhere (he was supposed to be on the wagon.) Yes, telling us about the sex-stains all around him in the back of the limo was too much even for me. Good grief! I was disgusted with this scene and others. Oh, did I mention that the woman he loved was waiting at his ranch to hear from him? Anxious for his return? Did I mention that a ton of photos with other women were posted on Twitter while he was at this 'business function?' while his true love waited? Gag!

TROUBLING: He usually did not remember his encounters if he was drunk and blacked out which was frequent. So, therefore, how could he possibly know if he used protection. He could have multiple diseases and illegitimate children everywhere along with women pregnant from his many hook ups. Unless I missed it, these issues were not addressed and I did a search. The only time a condom or protection was mentioned was once when he was with his true love. And if that isn't bad enough she takes him back in a snap. What the heck?

Enough said. I DO NOT recommend.

Characters and their story are essential to every Sarah M. Anderson story
By LoveRomanceTales
Harlequin Romances used to be a monthly purchase for me. I'd walk into my local bookstore or retail location and go through the monthly releases and choose which four I would be taking home with me. I loved the process of glancing at the newest covers, reading the blurbs and the making the tough call to weed through the monthly offerings to choose my final four. I admit there were some months I'd end up taking a few more home and then there were months that I'd be lucky to find 2 that would really interest me.

I'm thrilled to get back to the publisher with this book by Ms. Anderson. The voice that she brings to the table made a huge difference to my impression of not just her work but where Harlequin publishing is going in the future and I'm pleased that the direction is filled with more than what your Mom's Harlequin books were known for in romance.

So on to this book in particular, Phillip Beaumont and Jo Spears are characters that are at polar ends of the equation about addiction. Jo has hit rock bottom and discovered the value of remembering what and where she is. Meanwhile Phillip uses alcohol to escape the pressure of family responsibilities and uses his position has a screen for his more outrageous actions. This topic can be as volatile as discussing politics, taxes or religion but Ms Anderson handles it with true diplomacy. She never seems to forget or overlook the damage that it has upon an individual, family and relationships. As someone who has seen this sort of behavior up close and personal, it was represented with true realism which is one of Ms Anderson's hallmark gifts of skill, tact and plain truthfulness.

Our heroine, Jo, is a woman of depth, devotion and singlemindedness which she has cultivated due to her dual addiction of alcoholism and men. I appreciated the fact that she took a stand on her relationship with Phillip and stuck to it. This is the type of woman that we all need in our lives as role models and need to exemplify ourselves.

Phillip is the "typical" rich kid who has had a life not living up to his father's expectations and has used the escape of alcoholism to blunt the pain that he feels. I found this character very reflective of this idea and when he moves to change his life, there was a glimmer of truth that I found compelling and heartbreaking all at the same time.

The relationship between these two unique individuals is filled with ups and downs, highs and lows, and a determination to stand up for principles that were non-negotiable. I'm thrilled that these two characters didn't "jump into bed together" after the first meet and greet. They truly got to know each other on a deeper level before their relationship became more than boss and trainer.

Final Thoughts: If you are looking for a book that will give you more than just a typical relationship then check this book out. As always, Ms. Anderson's gift shows that her characters and their story are essential to every story that she tells.

FAITH

Faith Butler hadn't seen her twin sister Hope since shortly after they'd arrived at the party celebrating Jake Whitelaw's impending marriage to their former English teacher Miss Carter. Not that Hope's entrance hadn't been noted by one and all.

The afternoon gathering that was supposed to be held inside Miss Carter's two-story frame house had been moved into her backyard when a warm Chinook wind came through, making the mid-December afternoon feel like a summer day.

Hope had stepped out onto Miss Carter's back porch dressed in a tight black skirt barely long enough for decency and a formfitting, V-necked black cashmere sweater cut low enough to raise a man's heart rate. Ruby-red lipstick emphasized her full lips, and she wore enough mascara and eye shadow to dramatize a dozen dark, smoldering eyes.

Faith knew her sister's outrageous behavior only stemmed from desperation and determination. Because the man Hope loved was about to marry someone else.

Nonetheless, Hope's getup had done the trick. She'd managed to attract the one pair of eyes she'd been hoping to snare. Jake Whitelaw hadn't been able to stop staring at her. Or maybe it was more honest to say glaring at her.

Faith sighed loud enough to catch her boyfriend's attention.

"What's wrong?" Randy asked.

Faith reached for Randy's hand without noticing that she did so with the prosthetic device on the end of her left arm, where a hand was supposed to be—but had never grown. Randy Wright's total devotion over the past three years had made it possible for Faith to forget sometimes that she wasn't perfect, like her twin.

"I wish Hope would give up and accept reality," Faith said. "Jake Whitelaw might be physically attracted to her, but—"

"Might be?" Randy said with a snort. "He practically paws the ground every time he lays eyes on her."

Faith lifted an expressive black brow. "All right, he's got the hots for Hope. But he's going to marry Miss Carter."

"It sure looks that way," Randy said, eyeing Jake, who stood with his arm around Miss Carter's slender waist. "Unless somebody does something fast.''

"Hope has done everything she can to make herself into a potential wife for Jake. She raced through college in three years to get her degree in computer science from Baylor this past summer. And she's spent the past two summers traveling the world and experiencing as much of life as she can. But—"

"But she can never catch up to him, because he's lived too much longer than she has," Randy finished for her.

Faith sighed again. Jake Whitelaw might be only eighteen years older than Hope, but he was ages older in life experience. She didn't understand her sister's attraction to the older man, but Hope had fallen head-over-ears for Jake years ago, and was still tumbling even now.

"So what are you going to do to help her out?" Randy asked.

"What can I do?"

Randy grinned. "You might have acted like the shy sister growing up, but I know better. Whenever you want something and go after it, you get it. So, I ask again, how are you going to help Jake discover that he belongs with Hope?"

"Do they belong together?" Faith asked skeptically.

"Look at Jake," Randy said. "His gaze is constantly searching out Hope. And his behavior with Miss Carter is anything but loverlike."

"Oh," Faith said as she watched Jake's eyes scan Miss Carter's backyard, even though Hope was nowhere to be seen in the crowd. His arm was linked around Miss Carter's waist, but they stood a good six inches apart. And although they were physically together, Miss Carter seemed to be talking to everyone except Jake.

Faith watched as Hope appeared at one of the five entrances to the gazebo in the center of Miss Carter's backyard, laughing and flirting with one of Jake's hired hands. When Hope looked toward Jake to see if he'd noticed her, Jake quickly and carefully averted his eyes. Oh, Jake was attracted, all right. But it looked like he'd be damned before he'd let Hope know it.

"There's something else you may not have noticed," Randy said. "Check out Jake's younger brother Rabb. Look who has his eye."

Faith searched out Louis Whitelaw, who'd earned the nickname Rabbit as a kid, which had been shortened to Rabb as he'd grown older. Rabb was attractive, with chestnut-brown hair and hazel eyes, but nowhere near as good-looking as his brother Jake, who was easily four inches taller and broader in the shoulders, with chiseled features that demanded female attention.

It was amazing how they ended up being brothers. Zach and Rebecca Whitelaw had adopted eight kids in all. None of them looked much like the others, but they were as close-knit as any family tied together by blood. Maybe more so, precisely because there was no blood tie to bind them. Each kid had a different background, some more horrific than others, but once they'd been adopted into the Whitelaw clan, they'd cleaved to one another like ivy to oak.

Which made the situation Randy had pointed out to her all the more compelling.

Faith watched in fascination as Rabb Whitelaw stared with lovesick eyes at his older brother's fiancée. "Oh," she murmured. "Oh, my. That is interesting."

"Rabb has been eating Miss Carter with his eyes all afternoon," Randy said. "Surreptitiously, of course. He'd never poach on his brother's territory."

"So he'll let Jake marry Miss Carter, even though he loves her himself?" Faith asked.

"It looks that way," Randy said. "So you see, you'd be doing more than one person a favor if you helped break up this engagement."

"Believe me, I'm tempted," Faith said. "It's just too late. The wedding's in two weeks."

"Consider the fact that Jake and Miss Carter didn't set the date for their wedding until now, the exact time Hope finished school and has returned all grown up," Randy said. "What does that tell you?"

Faith pursed her lips and made a humming sound. "You think that Jake's only marrying Miss Carter to avoid his attraction to Hope? Is that possible?"

"Jake and Miss Carter have been engaged for three very long years. If they were in love, why didn't they get married a long time ago?" Randy asked.

Before Faith could speak, he answered his own question.

"Because Jake isn't in love with Miss Carter. Because being engaged to her has kept him 'safe' from acting on his attraction to your sister. You told me he believes he's too old for her. And he was married before to a younger woman, who left him when she got bored with ranch life."

"Hope loves living and working on a ranch," Faith said in defense of her sister. "She'd never get tired—"

"I didn't say she would," Randy interrupted. "But Jake got burned once. You can't blame him for wanting to avoid the fire."

Faith frowned. "I have to admit I thought Hope was too young for Jake when she first told me she'd fallen in love with him. But her teenage crush hasn't gone away. If anything, she seems more determined than ever to have him."

"If they're meant for each other, you'd be doing them a favor throwing them together," Randy said, "before Jake marries the wrong woman. And if they're not destined to be together, it'll be better in the long run to help Jake get over this infatuation he has for Hope before he marries Miss Carter."

"But the wedding is in two weeks!"

"Then you'd better get started, sweetheart," Randy said, kissing her on the nose.

"Are you going to help me?" Faith asked.

Randy held up his hands. "Uh-uh. Not me. Matchmaking is for females."

"You just stood there and talked me into it!" Faith protested.

Randy grinned. "You were going to interfere anyway. I merely gave you the nudge you needed to get started."

Faith grimaced and then laughed. "All right. I admit it. I can't stand to see Hope so unhappy. Especially if there's something I can do about it."

"You go, girl," Randy said with a wink.

"I do love you," she said as she lifted herself on tiptoe and kissed him on the mouth. His arm slid around her waist and pulled her close, deepening the kiss as she leaned into his solid strength. When he let her go, she looked into his eyes, hoping he could read the gratitude she felt.

If she was no longer the shy person she'd been in the past, it was because she saw a beautiful woman reflected in Randy's eyes, not the imperfect person—the twin without a left hand—she'd been when they'd first met.

"I think I'll go get myself a drink," he said as he released her. "You have work to do."

He kissed her again, a quick, hard kiss that told her he wanted to take her somewhere and lay her down and make mad, passionate love to her. Then he let her go and headed for the open bar that had been set up in the wooden gazebo in the center of Miss Carter's backyard.

Randy was right, Faith thought, as she watched him saunter away. If someone didn't do something, the wrong people were going to end up married to each other.

She turned her attention back to the engaged couple. Maybe she should start by seeing if she could get Miss Carter interested in Rabb Whitelaw. Maybe if Miss Carter met up with someone who really loved her, she would be willing to give up Jake. The question was how to accomplish this miracle in two weeks!

There was no time to waste. Faith contemplated her surroundings and plotted the best way to create…a ruckus.

Rabb Whitelaw had fallen in love with Amanda Carter long before his brother had come along and gotten engaged to her. Rabb had first noticed Amanda when they were both in the ninth grade. All through high school he'd admired her from afar, because he'd never felt like he was anyone she'd be interested in. Amanda was smart; he hadn't done well in school. And Amanda was tall. He hadn't caught up to her in height until he was a senior.

The long and the short of it was, he'd never been able to work up enough courage to ask her out. He'd figured she'd want to talk about Shakespeare and Moliere and Faulkner and Hemingway, and reading was difficult—make that excruciating—for him, because he was dyslexic. She'd dated lots of different boys, but he'd always been grateful that she'd never settled on any one in particular.

When Amanda had pursued her teaching degree at the local university, Rabb had been in agony worrying that she would fall in love with someone else. But she'd finished her education unattached and gotten a job teaching English at the local high school.

During the years Amanda had been in college, Rabb had found his niche working with his hands. He'd started small, making kitchen cupboards for his mom and then graduated to a bedroom suite for his sister Jewel and her husband Mac. Most recently he'd made a baby crib for his brother Avery and his wife Karen.

He took pride in his work, and now made a very comfortable living creating unique pieces of wood furniture that were in demand across the country. About the time professional success had given him the self-confidence he needed to pursue a relationship with Amanda, her mother had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, and Amanda had become her mother's nurse.

He'd asked her out anyway. She'd gone to the movies with him once, leaving her mother home alone, because at the time Mrs. Carter's disease wasn't very far advanced. But Amanda had come home to find her mother distraught and confused about where she was. Amanda had been so upset that she'd hurried inside. Rabb hadn't even gotten to kiss her good-night.

He'd asked her out a number of times after that, even offered to come over to her house with some popcorn and a rented video, but Amanda always refused.

But he hadn't stopped loving her. He'd figured that at some point Amanda would put her mother in a home where she could get round-the-clock care. But Amanda had never sent her mom away. She'd hired a nurse for the days when she was teaching high school. And spent her evenings at home.

Mrs. Carter had survived a long time. She'd died only three years ago. And Jake had swooped in at a vulnerable moment shortly after the funeral and asked Amanda to marry him. She'd said yes.

Rabb had felt like punching his brother's lights out. Instead, he'd swallowed his anger and wished both of them well. He'd been miserable, wondering how soon he would have to sit in church and watch the brother he idolized marry the woman he loved.

But they'd never set a wedding date, and Rabb had begun to hope it would never happen.

Two years ago, he'd volunteered to build a gazebo for a charity raffle, and amazingly, Amanda had purchased the winning ticket. He'd spent far longer working on the gazebo he'd built in her backyard than was necessary. But it had given him the opportunity to get reacquainted with her.

He would never forget the hot summer day she'd come out back with a tray of lemonade and oatmeal-raisin cookies. She'd been wearing one of those summer dresses held up with a couple of skinny straps over the shoulders and sandals that showed off toenails she'd painted pink. Her brown hair was cut in a short bob that made her look more like a teenager than the nearly thirty-year-old woman he knew she was.

"Thought you could use something cold to drink," she'd said, setting the tray on the un-painted steps of the gazebo.

He'd started to reach for his shirt, but she'd said, "You don't have to cover up for me. I've lost my modesty where the human body is concerned."

It was a strange thing to say, but he knew that, at the end, she'd taken care of the most intimate duties for her mother. He sat down beside her on the steps, took the glass of lemonade she handed him and drank most of it down. When he lowered the glass, he caught her staring at him.

She blushed and said, "I'm sorry. It's just that…you look so…healthy."

"My job keeps me in shape," he said matter-of-factly.

To his amazement, she reached out a hand and traced the corded muscles from his shoulder, down across his biceps, all the way to his forearm. She seemed totally absorbed in what she was doing, unaware of the response it was eliciting in him.

He waited, keeping himself totally still, wondering when she would realize what she was doing, not wanting her to stop. When she traced a small scar at his wrist, his hand reflexively clenched into a fist.

"Oh," she said, looking up at him with startled eyes. "I'm sorry."

He caught her hand before she could flee. "No problem. I liked you touching me."

"You did?"

"It felt good."

I loved it!
By Huntress Reviews
Family reunions and weddings should bring joy, not chaos, but the latter is what the Butler sisters find in this book. Though Faith is happy in her romance, she knows her sister, Hope is miserable as she watches Jake Whitelaw, who she has loved for ages, prepare to marry her former teacher, Amanda. Faith also knows that neither Jake nor Amanda will be happy in this marriage; Amanda is in love with Jake's brother Rabb, and Jake does love Hope, but feels he is too old for her. Yet, both are so darned honorable, they would rather go through with something that they don't want rather than cause the other the shame of being jilted. So, Faith is determined to make sure the right couples match up before four lives are ruined and hearts broken.
Then, the Butler family gets a little surprise. The third daughter they gave up for adoption over twenty years ago finds her way home on the arm of Jake's cousin. Charity is naturally resentful to discover that she was given away, and the shock is a definite one for her family. It will take a lot of tears and rage for this family to unite, and there are still three weddings to make come together!
...Told so well that all of the subplots merge smoothly and none are left dangling or short changed, this realistic novel is heart warming and heart rending at the same time. Each sister, and Amanda makes for a believeable heroine, and all of the heroes are truly Texan, strong, sexy, and honorable to an almost painful degree. Fans will not be at all disappointed...

Ms Johnston is awesome
By T. McRae
I have read several of Ms Johnston's books and found that this was one of my favourites. I do wish that it had focused more on Jake and Hope but still enjoyed it. As for the age difference between the two main characters, I have no problem with that. Speaking from experience, this does happen in real life and I could follow along with the situation.

We must remember that the novels that are written by Ms Johnston and other authors are fictional and meant to remove us from reality for the short bit of time it takes us to read them.

Keep up the good work as I can't wait to enjoy more. I'm already looking to find all the other books from Hawk's Way.

fine boardroom romance
By A Customer
Six years ago, pregnant teenager Meredith Ashe is run out of Billings, Montana by Myrna, the mother of her lover Cy Harden. Myrna paid Tony Tanksley to rob her family safe and accuse his lover Meredith as his accomplice. Cy believed his mother and Tony over his girlfriend. Meredith refused to take any money from the Hardens and returned Cy's gifts to Myrna.

Multi-millionaire businessman Henry Tennison meets a distraught Meredith wandering Chicago and takes her under his wings. The lonely older man eventually marries Meredith and raises her son Blake as his own. He taught her how to wisely invest, but not too long ago Henry died.

Needing mineral rights that Cy `s firm owns and to sell her recently deceased aunt's home, Meredith returns to Billings. The attraction between her and Cy remains heated and guilt racked Myrna knows she did wrong. However, Meredith is not a frightened teen, but is a confident woman who informs Myrna her price to leave town is the truth. As she works a hostile takeover, her brother-in-law Don spins a double cross and Cy realizes something is not right between the two women he loves. All comes to a head when Myrna faints upon seeing Blake.

Though having a Falcon Crest and Dallas feel to the plot, fans will appreciate this fine boardroom romance as the lead couple remains in love yet neither trust the other because Cy chose his mother's "truth" over his beloved's contention. Though Don seems foolish in his power grab to eliminate his highly regarded by the board sister-in-law that could cost his company millions, fans of second chance at love soap opera romances will enjoy this fine tale of revenge.

Mentally Abusive Hero
By Booker Don
There is absolutely nothing likeable about the hero! At first, I was just disappointed with the characterization, but the more I thought about it, the madder I got. I cannot find one reason why Meredith loved Cy. It's one thing to be stupid at 18, but for her to be such a smart businesswoman and still accept insulting, mentally abusive behavior from anyone, let alone her "love" certainly sends the wrong message to women. In the author's own words, Cy treated her like a "Saturday night pickup without tenderness or respect" and was always "rough" with her sexually (even when she was a virgin), they never talked so they didn't really know each other, he never really took her anywhere, he always insulted her and thought she was beneath him, so WHY did she love Cy? Why should it be acceptable behavior to constantly insult and belittle any human being, let alone someone you're supposed to "love"? Why should someone want to read about a hero that blames everyone but himself for his bad behavior? Everyone should be accountable for his/her own actions and I'd rather read about a hero/heroine that rises above their background, not find excuses for it! I hope that someone with poor self-confidence or young women don't read this and think that it's okay to be treated like Meredith.... mentally abused.

The Worst of Palmer
By C. Glover
This book should never have been re-released. It is that bad. Save your time, money, and vision. None of the characters are believable or likeable. Meredith's story might have worked if she made her vengeful return to Billings after 10 or 15 years instead of 6. I have been in the boardroom of a national corporation and 22 year old mothers do not have the depth and experience to head a domestic division even with an MBA. Not to mention her unfamiliarity with society and lack of professional allies in this rags to riches story.

Cy is totally appalling. Why would anyone trust him in business or in bed? And yet our heroine falls for him over and over again. How stupid. How could he live with his mother for 30 some years and never ask about his grandmother or his relatives? How could everyone in town have forgotten who she was if she grew up there? And what about the mysterious Mr. Smith? Although called a bodyguard, he acted only as a babysitter. He could have been interesting. Wasn't he worth a story line? He did not even rate a first name. Unbelievable. This book was too, painfully long with characters I never cared about. It was torture to read. Even the sex was bad. For people whose attraction was based on mutual passion it just came across as horny sex. Put this one back in mothballs. And Diana, do not be afraid to write about a mature woman. Love and sexual satisfaction can still be a discovery for women over 35.

I like the Randall series, but the the men seem to have a habit of rescueing women who have new borns or who are pregnant and need a "hero" to rescue them.
